Why am I receiving invoices from two companies?

It is completely nomal to receive two invoices for electricity. You pay the distribution company for delivering and distributing electricity to your home, and you pay the electricity seller for the electricity you consume.

Orkuvísir ON

Orkuvísir is Orka náttúrunnar´s first step towards giving customers the opportunity to influence their own electricity bills through responsible personal usage. The tariff is based on the hourly market price of electricity and is suitable for households that can shift their electricity consumption to cheaper times, for example by charging an electric car at night.

Do you need to register a different ID number on the electricity meter?

First, you need to report the change of user on the meter to the distribution company in your area. The distribution companies in Iceland are:

Veitur, HS Veitur, Orkubú Vestfjarða, Norðurorka, and RARIK.

Hvað kostar rafmagn?

Þegar þú borgar fyrir rafmagn, ertu í raun að greiða fyrir kílóvattstundir (kWh) – það er sú orka sem þú notar.

Af hverju er reikningurinn minn svona hár?

Þú ert að fá uppgjörsreikning fyrir notkun á rafmagni. Það þýðir að þú hefur notað meira rafmagn en hafði verið áætlað. Uppgjörsreikningur getur einnig komið til ef þú ert að flytja – þá er þetta lokareikningur eftir að þú laukst viðskiptum með rafmagnsmælinn hjá ON. Með tilkomu snjallmæla getur upphæðin verið breytileg þar sem notkun getur verið misjöfn. T.d getur notkun á veturna verið meiri en á sumrin.
