Helga Jónsdóttir
Chair of the Board of Directors
Helga Jónsdóttir, a former employee of the EFTA Surveillance Authority, is the chairwoman of ON Power's Board of Directors. Helga has had a diverse career and was, among other roles, the mayor of the municipality Fjarðabyggð from 2006 to 2010. She has also served as Permanent secretary of the Ministry of the Economy and Business Affairs, as well as serving as political advisor to the minister and as City Manager of Reykjavík.
Birna Bragadóttir
Board of Directors
Birna Bragadóttir is Head of Innovation Center and Science Communication at Reykjavik Energy, where she spearheads projects to stimulate creative energy in collaboration with innovators and the community.
She has extensive management experience, both from the public and private sector, with a special focus on innovation, services, human resources and workplace culture.
In recent years, Birna has led the development and construction of Elliðaár Power Station - a destination combining energy, nature and education. She was previously managing director of Sand Hotel and an HR and cultural consultant at Capacent and Befirst. She was also a staff development manager at Reykjavik Energy, and an HR, training and services manager at Icelandair for over a decade.
She holds an MBA degree from Reykjavik University and a BA in sociology from the University of Iceland, as well as studying Design Thinking at MIT Sloan and executive coaching at Coach University.
Birna has extensive management experience, having chaired the Board of both Ljósleiðarinn and the Design Fund and served on the Board of Women in Energy – Iceland. She is currently a Board member of the Iceland Renewable Energy Cluster and VOR - Reykjavik Energy Research and Innovation Fund, and is a member of the steering group for the Hringiða business accelerator for green solutions.
Heiða Aðalsteinsdóttir

Heiða Aðalsteinsdóttir has extensive experience in leading interdisciplinary projects relating to policy devleopment, organization and environmental assessments. Heiða has worked in the energy industry for about a decade, most recently as project manager in legal affairs and compliance at Reykjavik Energy. Previously, she was Head of Strategy Execution and Environmental Consent at Carbfix, and worked in research and innovation at Reykjavik Energy, where she led policy development across the Group, organization, environmental assessment and consultaiton with stakeholders. Heiða has also worked as project manager and planning consultant for Alta Consulting. Heiða is a certified landscape architect from the University of Gloucestershire and holds a degree in international business from Copenhagen Business School.
Tómas Ingason
Board of Directors
Tómas Ingason has been the Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Digital Development at Icelandair since 2019. He was the Chief Commercial Officer of WOW air in 2018 and Director of Rapid Digitization at Arion Bank between 2016 and 2018. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iceland in 2001, an M.Sc. in Engineering from MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston in 2006, and later an MBA degree in 2012 from the same school.
Ómar Svavarsson
Board of Directors
Ómar Svavarsson was the CEO of Vodafone and the Head of Sales and Services at Sjóvá. Ómar served as the CEO of Securitas from 2017 to 2024.

Árni Hrannar Haraldsson
Chief Executive Officer
Árni Hrannar lived and worked in Switzerland from 2011 to 2023, including as a managing director responsible for the supply chain of MSPharma, which is an international pharmaceutical company with operations worldwide. Árni Hrannar has also held key positions at Xantis Pharma in Switzerland, Actavis, and 66° North. Árni Hrannar has extensive experience of management work in market-leading companies, both domestically and internationally. He has experience with personnel management and has been responsible for large-scale operations, such as procurement, manufacturing, and management of complex supply chains. He has worked for ON Power since 2023.
Birna Björnsdóttir was an employee of Norðurál for 19 years, mostly in management positions such as department head of Production Control, manager of Potroom, Rodding Shop, and Casthouse, as well as serving on the company’s executive board. Birna has a B.Sc. in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering. She has worked for ON Power since 2025.
Hjálmar Helgi Rögnvaldsson
Business Development and Power Markets
Hjálmar Helgi is the Managing Director of Business Development & Power Markets. Hjálmar previously worked for Fluor Corporation in the Netherlands, and Actavis in Iceland. Hjálmar has a B.Sc. in Medical Engineering from Reykjavík University and an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from TU Delft in the Netherlands, with a specialization in sustainable energy production. He has worked for ON Power since 2014.
Óskar Friðrik Sigmarsson
Technology and Operations
Among Óskar Friðrik Sigmarsson’s previous positions are department head of the Office of Strategic Projects at VÍS Insurance, consultant at Deloitte, and head of Strategy and Development at the Icelandic Banks’ Data Centre (Reiknistofa bankanna). Óskar Friðrik has a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Southern Denmark, an MPM from the University of Iceland, and an MBA from Reykjavík University. He has worked for On Power since 2019.
Tinna Jóhannsdóttir
Marketing and Sustainability
Tinna led the development of the Forest Lagoon in Eyjafjörður and managed the facility. She was the head of marketing at Reginn hf. From 2017-2022, where she managed marketing for Reginn, Smáralind Shopping Center and Hafnartorg. Prior to that, she had also held the position of marketing manager at Brimborg and Innovation Center Iceland. Tinna is a graduate in business administration, has completed an MBA, and holds a diploma in human resource management. She has worked for ON Power since 2023.
Jóhann Ingi was a sales manager for Hekla for several years before joining ON Power, first as a sales manager but later he took on the position of Director of sales and services. Jóhann Ingi has an MBA from the University of Iceland and over 20 years of experience with sales, service, and brand management. Jóhann Ingi has worked for ON Power since 2023.
