ON becomes a sponsor of Uppspretta Suðurlands

ON Power has signed an agreement to become an official sponsor of Uppspretta Suðurlands, a festival of growth and value creation.
Uppspretta brings together a conference, exhibition area, and networking platform where entrepreneurs, companies, investors, municipalities, and the general public come together. The festival is organized by the South Iceland Coalition of Municipalities (SASS), the South Iceland University Centre, and Visit South Iceland, with the aim of promoting innovation and value creation in South Iceland.
Shared vision on sustainability and value creation
ON Power operates the Hellisheiði and Nesjavellir geothermal power plants in South Iceland and has for years emphasized innovation and the multi-purpose utilization of resources. At ON's Geothermal Park in Hellisheiði, the resources from the Hellisheiði Power Plant are utilized for diverse activities, and the development and establishment of the Glóð innovation center is currently underway. Once the center is operational, it will offer start-ups and entrepreneurs a new platform to take their first steps and utilize the flows of the circular economy.
Ingunn Gunnarsdóttir, innovation leader at ON, says the collaboration aligns well with the company's priorities and that innovation plays a major role in the activities of both parties.
“We welcome this ambitious initiative by SASS and its partners and are excited to support Uppspretta. The festival aligns well with ON's focus on sustainable value creation, innovation, and a robust economy. As an employer in the region, we want to both promote innovation in our own activities and support the ideas and solutions of others, including in the Geothermal Park and Glóð, the planned center of innovation in Hellisheiði.”

Unity in economic development
At SASS, great emphasis is placed on bringing together strong actors in the region to promote progress in the local economy. Lína Björg Tryggvadóttir, project manager at SASS, welcomes the agreement and says it highlights the importance of the festival.
“It is extremely important for us, the organizers of this festival, to have a strong and leading partner like ON Power join this major project. Uppspretta is conceived as a driving force for all of South Iceland, and ON's support demonstrates in practice the strength and unity present in the region's economy when it comes to promoting innovation in the local community.”
Conference, exhibition area, and networking
Uppspretta will be held for the first time in November and is intended to be a platform for ideas, collaboration, and new opportunities in South Iceland. The festival will be a diverse two-day event where entrepreneurs, investors, South Icelandic companies, and the public come together at the Horseday Arena.
The schedule and further information about the event can be found on the Uppspretta website.
