Vala to the KÍO Board

Valgerður B. Eggertsdóttir, leader of stakeholder relations and sustainability at ON Power, was elected to the board of Women in Energy (KÍO) at the association's most recent annual general meeting. The new board was introduced at KÍO Day, which was held recently.
Employees of ON Power took part in KÍO Day, which is a regular feature of KÍO's activities and a platform for networking, inspiration, and discussion about the status and future of women in energy.
KÍO's goal is to increase women's participation in energy, strengthen their connections, and increase their influence within the industry. The association was founded ten years ago and has grown rapidly in recent years. About 300 new members have joined over the past two years, and membership now stands at just over 900.
One of the highlights of KÍO Day was a so-called "sófa" chat featuring President of Iceland Halla Tómasdóttir. It was noted there, among other things, that Iceland's unique position, with strong geothermal utilization and a strong record on gender equality, attracts international attention, and Halla said, among other things, that geothermal energy and equality were a perfect combination that other countries would also like to achieve.
Halla emphasized the importance of telling the story of Icelandic energy use, since we Icelanders are world leaders in geothermal utilization, and we should seize the opportunity to spread that story and be proud of our strengths and showcase them as widely as possible.
ON staff thank KÍO's outgoing board for its good work and for an informative and energetic KÍO Day, while wishing the new board every success in its work.
