Smart meters give customers a better overview

Smart meters of the distribution networks have a positive effect for ON Power customers. With them, electricity consumption is measured automatically and bills are now increasingly based on actual usage instead of estimates, as was previously common.

Smart meters send information about usage, so there is no longer a need to read the meter at home. This gives customers clearer insight into their own electricity consumption and better opportunities to monitor and control it. Usage can be monitored on ON's My Pages.

When bills are based on actual usage, they can vary from month to month. It is common for costs to be higher during the winter months when usage is greater, and lower over the summer when it decreases.

Smart meters thus provide information about when usage takes place. That helps customers use energy in a cost-effective way and enables energy companies to detect deviations or faults earlier.

With smart meters, there are increased opportunities to save energy, use resources responsibly, and lower electricity costs in the long term.

If you have a smart meter, you can sign up for ON's Energy Guide and thus have even more influence on your electricity bill.
