Tremendous opportunities in an environment for growth

Where is the best place to build up operations based on energy? Helga Kristín Jóhannsdóttir, manager of ON Power's Geothermal Park, answers this and other questions in her presentation on the Geothermal Park in an interview filmed at Hellisheiði Power Station, where the Geothermal Park spans over an area of more than 100 hectares.
Representatives of companies in the park, Kristinn Hafliðason, COO of VAXA Technologies, and Jan Wurzbacher, CEO of Climeworks, also appear in the video and explain how collaboration and responsible resource utilization create opportunities that are hard to find elsewhere. Helga Kristín also speaks about the park's future vision and the philosophy behind its development, as the Geothermal Park is a community of companies that build their operations on renewable energy, a circular economy mindset, and the responsible use of resources. In the area around Hellisheiði Power Station, companies gain access to electricity, water, land, and other resources that create ideal conditions for innovation and growth.
"In the Geothermal Park, we welcome progressive companies to utilize the resources in the area responsibly and create value guided by a circular mindset," says Helga Kristín in the video. "The advantages of being in the Geothermal Park are diverse – and last but not least, it is the opportunity to start small and grow within the park."
A vibrant community of innovation
"VAXA would not exist if it were not for the Geothermal Park," says Kristinn from VAXA Technologies, adding that all of the company's technology is built around what Hellisheiði Power Station has to offer and that the company utilizes all the energy streams it needs, directly from the plant.
Kristinn says the collaboration with ON has gone extremely well, and Jan, CEO of Climeworks, strikes a similar chord. He says that collaboration with other companies in the park enables Climeworks to develop and scale its carbon capture solutions in addition to making the company's operations more efficient.
The video clearly shows how companies with different operations can benefit from the same resources and also create value for one another guided by a circular mindset, which is one of the goals of the Geothermal Park.
Part of ON's vision for the future
Helga Kristín says that the Geothermal Park has become an important part of ON Power's future vision. "We look forward to expanding and strengthening the Geothermal Park over the coming years. The companies we envision in the park are diverse, including agricultural companies and biotechnology companies, and all those who have sustainability as their guiding light and want to make the best possible use of the resource streams in the area."
