Starting a engine is no joke!

At the Hellisheiði Power Plant, there is rarely a dull moment. There, experts from various fields work together to ensure the safe delivery of electricity and hot water to the community, a job that involves constant monitoring, maintenance, renewal, and much more.
Maintenance and improvements are an essential part of power plant operations. Although the production itself is often invisible to users, work is constantly being done behind the scenes to ensure that the equipment operates safely and efficiently. This can include everything from routine inspections and preventive maintenance to large-scale projects such as commissioning after repairs or upgrades.
Recently, Turbine 6 at the Hellisheiði Power Plant was commissioned after a maintenance shutdown. The communication team at ON Power was allowed to observe, and in the video at the bottom of the news piece, you have the opportunity to see how the commissioning went and gain insight into one of the many tasks that the power plant staff perform daily.
Commissioning a turbine is a precise and demanding process requiring a wide range of knowledge and experience from the staff. It brings together experts in operations, electrical, and mechanical equipment who work together to get the systems back up and running fully.
Jobs within ON Power are highly diverse, whether looking at power plant operations alone or the company as a whole. We enjoy being able to provide insight into the daily operations of the largest geothermal power plant in Europe and show what our powerful staff is involved with at work, producing hot water and electricity in a sustainable way.
We highly recommend watching this interesting video!
