The installation of charging stations in five new locations in Reykjavík

The installation of charging stations in five new locations in Reykjavík

The energy of nature will begin the installation of 20 charging stations at five new locations in Reykjavik in the coming weeks, following a recent tender. As always with ON’s neighborhood charging, the stations will be 22 kW AC charging stations, suitable for electric vehicle owners in the city.

The new locations are at Hagamel/Kaplaskjólsveg, Þorfinnsgata, Hátún, Kleppsveg 150-152, and Efstaland. All of these locations have been selected with the aim of serving residents and other electric vehicle users in areas where there is proximity to services and entertainment. The installation is expected to be completed within the year.

Significant development at ON

The energy of nature began developing neighborhood charging in Reykjavik in 2021 after the city’s first tender. At that time, 162 connections were established at 32 locations around the city. Since then, ON has placed a strong emphasis on increasing the availability of charging connections with the aim of improving accessibility for electric vehicle owners, both at home and on the go. Today, ON also operates about 140 connections throughout the city in collaboration with various partners, further strengthening the infrastructure for electric vehicle owners.

ON will continue to contribute to the energy transition by increasing the number of connections and building robust and user-friendly infrastructure. The locations of new charging stations will continue to be carefully selected to ensure the best service and proximity to other services and entertainment for customers, whether in Reykjavik or elsewhere in the country.

Sustainable development in focus

This milestone is part of ON’s goal to promote a sustainable future through the implementation of environmentally friendly solutions and an expanded electric vehicle network. Neighborhood charging ensures that electric vehicle owners have a reliable and accessible charging system, which is an important step toward more sustainable transportation in Iceland.
