Notice regarding pre-authorizations for charging

With the introduction of ON Power's new charging app, changes were made to the billing process for charging sessions. A pre-authorization request is now made on the payment card before charging begins, as is common in similar services. The amount of the pre-authorization can vary depending on the charging station and is used to confirm that the card is active and can pay for the charging. When charging ends, only the actual usage is charged.

Unfortunately, there have been cases where the pre-authorization is not automatically released after charging is completed, as expected. This can cause the pre-authorization amount to appear to remain held on the customer's payment card for a certain period of time, even though the final payment has already been processed or charging has finished.

"It is an absolute priority for us to find a solution to this matter, and we are working closely with our partners and acquirers to make improvements. Our goal is to ensure that pre-authorizations are released in a normal manner after charging is completed. We are very sorry that this situation has arisen and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," says Kristín Björk Bjarnadóttir, Head of individual and corporate solutions at ON.

We thank our customers for their patience and understanding while we work towards a permanent solution.
