Technical Collage students explored the technology behind the energy transition

ON Power welcomed students from the Technical College on Technical College Day, which was held for the fourth time this year. The goal of Technical College Day is to strengthen students' connections with the business sector and give them the opportunity to learn about diverse jobs and companies related to their studies.

This year, we wanted to place a special emphasis on ON's charging service, the role the company plays in the energy transition in transport, and how important it is for society. Therefore, the students visited the charging team's warehouse where Stefnir Elíasson, head of the charging service, educated the group about different types of charging stations, how they work, and what needs to be considered when installing charging infrastructure.

The group also got to visit the old Heating Station, where Guðjón Hugberg, ON's technical manager, introduced the so-called Birta project. There, the students were able to see how solar energy is utilized for the charging stations at Bæjarháls and learn how different energy solutions can work together.

Technical College Day is an important opportunity for ON to present the company's diverse activities and the jobs and projects that may await future professionals after graduation.
