ON Power's staff actively participated in the world's largest geothermal conference
ON Power's staff actively participated in the World Geothermal Congress 2026, the world's largest geothermal conference, with presentations, meetings, and conversations with partners from all over the world.
The conference concluded before the weekend, having been held in Calgary, Canada, this time. WGC is held every three years, bringing together experts, scientists, businesses, and innovators from the geothermal sector worldwide to share knowledge, discuss new opportunities, and strengthen international cooperation in the field of geothermal energy.
ON's staff had the opportunity to share Iceland's experience in the sustainable utilization of geothermal energy, present ON's projects, learn from others, and engage in constructive discussions about the future opportunities for geothermal energy. It was therefore both useful and gratifying for participants to meet partners, experts, and pioneers from all over the world who share the common goal of utilizing geothermal energy in a sustainable and responsible manner.
The conference focused, among other things, on innovation, the development of new technology, and how geothermal energy can support the energy transition and increase the energy security of societies worldwide. It is clear that interest in geothermal energy is growing, and that Icelandic knowledge and experience continue to attract significant attention on the international stage.

Guðmundur Kjartansson gave the presentation "Gland steam removal system with spray-cooler for steam turbines at Hellisheiði and Nesjavellir".
Hildur Æsa Oddsdóttir delivered the presentation "Geothermal for Resilient Cities: Managing Dual-Demand in Urban CHP Infrastructure".
Ingunn Gunnarsdóttir gave the presentation "Powering Innovation: Geothermal Synergy at Hellisheiði in Iceland".
Karl Jakobsson delivered the presentation "Exergoeconomic Analysis of the Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant".
