ON tops the Sustainability Ladder in the electricity sales category for the third time

ON Power won the Sustainablity Index in the electricity retailers category this week, for the third year in a row. Prósent, Langbrók and Sjálfbærni are behind the Sustainability Index, which is a standardized metric that measures Icelandic consumers’ attitudes toward companies’ performance on sustainability issues and provides an impartial comparison of the status and development of markets.
The measurements cover the main markets in Iceland and are carried out during the period from January through April each year. Tinna Jóhannsdóttir, head of marketing and sustainability at ON Power, accepted the recognition. “Sustainability is especially close to the hearts of all employees at Orka náttúrunnar, and that is reflected in all of their work and decisions. It is therefore a great pleasure for us to receive this recognition that the Sustainability Index is, and we are truly proud and grateful,” said Tinna.
ON Power scored 63 points, which is classified as a good performance on the scale, and was the only company in the electricity retailers market to achieve that result. Orkusalan received 57 points, HS Orka received 56 points, and N1 rafmagn received 52 points, also in the electricity retailers category.
Ambitious goals at ON in sustainability and environmental matters
ON Power is the country’s largest geothermal company, operating three power plants where both hot water and electricity are produced. However, ON does not only produce environmentally friendly energy for homes, businesses and vehicles; the company also places great emphasis on research, innovation and sustainability with the aim of ensuring better quality of life for future generations.
ON Power has set ambitious goals in sustainability and environmental matters, and the company works diligently toward those goals every day. ON has also been at the forefront of building charging infrastructure and encouraging the public and businesses to reduce carbon emissions through eco-friendly transportation, and ON’s rapidly expanding charging network plays a major role in that.
In addition to what has already been stated, ON Power is socially important both to its owners and to society as a whole. We are therefore extremely proud to receive the Sustainability Index for the third year in a row, and it is a great recognition of the ambitious work of ON’s more than 120 employees.
