Denisa Saková, Slovakia’s Minister of Economy and Deputy Prime Minister, visited Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant yesterday along with a delegation. Yagiz Bostanci, science educator and Ingunn Gunnarsdóttir, Leader of innovation, presented the operations of ON Power, use of geothermal energy and the ON Geothermal Park, and Valgerður B. Eggertsdóttir, Leader of Stakeholder Affairs and Sustainability, was on hand to answer the minister‘s questions, who was very pleased with the visit.

The purpose of Saková‘s visit to Iceland was to familiarize herself with Iceland‘s use of geothermal energy, as Slovakia has several geothermal areas that have so far mostly been used for thermal baths, as opposed to heating or energy production.

After visiting Hellisheiði Geothermal Plant, Saková met with Jóhann Páll Jóhannsson, Minister of the Environment, Energy and Climate. She also visited Grindavík during her stay in Iceland.
