Common questions and answers

Why do I receive an invoice from Orka náttúrunnar?

Orka náttúrunnar issues an invoice for electricity consumption. There are always two bills for electricity. The second bill is for electricity usage from an electricity vendor (like ON). The other is for electricity distribution from the electricity distribution company.

Orka náttúrunnar produces and sells environmentally friendly energy for homes, businesses and vehicles.

Why is electricity usage paid on the one hand and distribution on the other?

Since 2006, everyone has been free to choose an electricity supplier for electricity use. However, the distribution of electricity is on a concession basis, which means that users are dealing with the distribution provider that belongs to their municipality.

There are always two bills, one for electricity and one bill for electricity consumption from the electricity dealer and the other is for electricity distribution from the electricity distributor.

Who is my electricity distributor?

The cost of electricity distribution is charged by the distribution company that belongs to each municipality.

Where can I see my invoices?

It is easy to access the invoices on my pages.

How do I get rid of the notification and payment fee?

On my pages, you can choose using a card as a payment method and thus opt out of all paper – this way you save, for yourself and the environment.

We recommend registering a card as a payment method, because then the notification and payment fee is 0 ISK. If you pay the bill at your local bank, you pay ISK 85. but for a printed invoice the fee is ISK 305.
